Look here, xz!Le, it's late (here) but maybe this can help:
have a look in the file /etc/sysconfig/network and if it contains
some nonsensical line GATEWAY=xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx, remove that
line and retry
Good luck to you
Ok

Also, add to those questions,
- Does his isp use pppoe instead of pppoa?
- Are his vic/vpi set correctly?

Hi Martin!
This smells terribly of the same little (ahem) problem WE struggled with
a few weeks ago
The questions that pose themselves are:
Did Paul use the beta1 version?
Did he check the contents of:
- /etc/ppp/peers/adsl
- /etc/ppp/pap-secrets & chap-secrets
etcetera, I would like to

Try "cat /var/log/messages > syslog.txt" and send the relevant parts -

Come on, tell us, what instructions did you follow?
You run 'modem_run' and then what?

Hi does anyone else have any ideas about my modem.
To re-cap I am using Red Hat 8.0 and cannot get my internet
connection to work.
When I run the modem_run command the modem lights start to flash and
then they both go green which I think is a good sign.
When I run the ifconfig command however is

Sure, I tried both of them (had the -b already on).
Anyway, as long as I do NOT switch on any logging/debugging in
pppoa3, everything runs good enough for me..download speeds are around
the 24 Kbps (I still have a 256/64 connection).
Ok O.

did you try the 'undocumented' -b option into modem_run ? I repeat, this, and the
atm.c patch cured it for me.
