Glenn is right,
I had it backwards, evidently it's a matter of
vaccum pressure over the bridge/venturi and not a
matter of needle taper recession that increases fuel
flow.
Disregard my bassackwards description.

The purpose of the damper oil is to keep the pistom from rising too
quickly and leaning the mixture out. When the butterfly valve opens
under acceleration it causes a greater vacuun to be applied to the jet
causing more fuel to flow while the damper prevents the piston from
rising immediately

Sorry, after I reread my post I realized that I forgot to mention the

Everyone,
I'm inquiring on behalf of my father. He's looking for a body

The dash pot piston creates less resistance (constant

I am about to have my Spitfire motor rebuilt and I have a few questions that
may be nitpicky or not, but have me nervous.
I have read, several times and places, that, if you install a new cam, the
motor has to start right away or the new cam will not break in right.
When I get the motor rebuilt, I
I always use engine oil. The heavier the grade the richer the mixture
when you accelerate. Some folks use lighter oils. Normally I use 20W50
in my spitfire. Even when I used to own a Triumph in the UK and the car
was kept outside and the temperature dropped below freezing that was
what I used

Hi all,
I just did this task last Sunday and forgot to respond. I had bought a panel
removal tool for my truck, you know the kind, it looks like a screwdriver
with a forked tip. You are supposed to use it to put around the panel pins
to pull them out of the door.

Somewhere I heard it was a 10 ohm resistor.

Just a quick note, I got one door done today.

Used a screw driver to hold down the black plastic piece and pushed the pin
out. The question now is will I ever be able to reassemble the pieces :)

Unless you're going for originality (concourse), I
would ditch the mechanical fan. Not only do the

Hi Tim and Tami,

We went with the easiest solution and decided not to have the fan clutch
installed, thus giving us the necessary clearance. We also wired for an

Hi All - on my '69 MK III, the Dual SU carbs have me scratching my head !
The vacuum port on the front carb (only vacuum port on the set-up) does not

I have had an ongoing problem of timing with the car ever since I bought it
