A fun thing I used to have was a Neon bulb on my long wire antenna, any static
build up over 90v would light the Neon bulb, keeps the antenna at a low
potential and you see local storm action too.

I have never in 45 + years in the hobby had even a close strike.
All antennas are shunted to ground and all equipment into a common ground and
shunted to the ground 3 8 foot copper rods in the ground
