The biggest issue (apart from how long it takes to completely rescan my
library) is that all play counts are lost every time I have to do trash
the library and rescan. Is there anyway to preserve those?

They do not. I am specifying a different MAC address for each
Squeezelite in the command line argument I'm using to start each one.

It does, but when running in this state, the Diagnostics tab shows an
Alert - "LMS is running but can't be contact on Port 9000"
