I don't understand why you wouldn't just browse by genre if that's how
you've organized your library. You get the same hierarchy of genre >

genres and (IIRC) you also get genre filtering, so you'd only see albums

I wish I could do pretty much the same thing with Compilation albums.

Check your file dates, specifically the 'modification' or 'last updated'
date and time. If they're not later than everything else in the library,
then those albums won't bubble to the top of the New Music list. This
can sometimes be a problem with music files that you get through means

Really? I have just two. The first is a timestamp that, IIRC, denotes
that last time the value was synced. The second is the actual UUID.

In my experience LMS will listen on all IP addresses unless you direct

In any case, it should be very simple to test.
OP, one thing you can do would be to add the year to an ALBUMSORT field

it would you give the desired effect. And if you ever play all songs in
a genre you can also include the artist name in addition to the year.

I don't believe there's a server setting that controls this. From what I
can tell playing all songs by an artist always sorts them into album
name, track number order. Which seems pretty arbitrary to me.
Similarly, playing all songs in a genre also sorts them by album name,
track number. Without
You probably want to disable the "Full text search" plugin. Like you, I

If you use cover.jpg files in each album folder instead, don't you still
see those in the app?
JJZolx's Profile:
Do you need to have the artwork in the tags? If not, I believe it will
also speed up scans to only use cover.jpg files for cover art. LMS has
to do a lot more work to catalog all of those individual images during a
scan.
You might try removing the artwork tags from one or two albums (you can

So, is LMS pulling the embedded cover from the audio file and resizing
it every time a song is played? Why wouldn't any necessary images have
been resized and cached during a scan?
If that's the case, removing the embedded images should improve CPU
usage on the server.
Funny. As I was exploring some of the open LMS servers out there, a
surprising number had that old web UI. Also surprising were the number
that were stuck in the middle of a library scan, probably for years. And
the number that were running 7.7. I think the vast majority who are

1. Attach a hard drive to the Pi and keep the library local. This will

2. Run the server on the NAS.

The common advice in the past has been to remove all of the Guess Tags
formats, to avoid confusion about where the metadata in shown in LMS
came from. I still think this is the best approach. Like
Here are the defaults I get with LMS 7.9:

Why would you need to know the defaults? You only need formats that

ALBUM
TRACKNUM
GENRE

No, I don't use Fulltext Search, since I prefer the plain search. That
may very well be the source of the sorting problem.
To clarify what he's doing: Quick search, then clicking 'Alben' in the
drop-down menu, which then displays the search results for albums in the
browse pane (note the bread crumbs in the 2nd screen capture). There is
no sort option - it's sorted purely by album name.
For me, it works as expected
I just created a test album with these images and ran a full scan on the
latest 7.9 on Windows Server. I'm using no iTunes integration or full
text indexing, and get a different sequence of operations from a full
scan, but no problems pre-caching the artwork. No errors or warnings in

With respect to the screensaver, yes. Pause causes the player to enter
the Stopped state, and the Stopped screensaver should kick in after the

This is really a question about Music Information Server, but I don't
think all of those are recognized states. What is "playing after

This sounds like an age-old problem/misconception. You _will_ sometimes
get songs from the same album played back-to-back in a random mix. Even
if you're playing songs from your whole music library it can happen. The
fewer songs (narrower the criteria) for the mix, the greater the chance
that it
Look in the web interface at My Music > Random Mix. There's a setting

The bitrate displayed for streaming FLAC files isn't "wrong", per se
...it's the compressed bitrate, or the rate at which the data is being
streamed. Confusing, maybe, but not wrong.
And Transporter _is_ capable of 24 bit 96 KHz. It won't do 192 kHz and
above.
You're aware, I would assume, that LMS allows a fixed volume adjustment
for streams under Settings > Player > Audio > Volume Adjustment for
Remote Streams? I don't see how you could offer anything that actually
analyzes an audio stream to provide a more accurate ReplayGain value.
