Yes, i know the benefits of a good NAS. No doubt in what you said. In
Former Times, i was thinking of a NAS refering to my Video library,
sharing all my Photos with the familly and so on But meanwhile Times
have changed. I have All my Photos, including scanned images from my
parents albums,

i understand your doubts and concerns, i had it too. I used "volumio"
before (the same hardware, volumio acts as server and player). All in
all it went well with a maximum of ~20.000 titles. After enhancing the
database, the problems began. So i tried out to use plugins for
"miniDNLA" and "LMS"

I use SD cards in different sizes since they are existing (Smartphones,
Cameras,

One sample doesn't make a meaningful statistic. But I'm 2.5h years into
using the same SD card on my pCP based

Well, running Player as well as server on the same Pi is the reason i
use "piCorePlayer" an i did not have any problems so far.
I have samba shares on my sd-card partion (the one with slimserver) as
well on my HD. Of course, the HD is no SSD (does this makes sense using
USB2?).
What do you mean
I thought I had a decent sized library at c40k tracks!
I cant help but think that you are pushing a Pi3 quite close to its
limits with a 400k library and making it act as both server and player.
The weak point of all Pis up to Pi4 is the shared USB/LAN bus. I assume
the 4TB drive isnt SSD?

Which version of piCorePlayer are you using. Is piCorePlayer ready to
use Pi4 or is it just in development?
Currently, i am happy with my Pi3b, which is running for 3 weeks now

Dear Michael,
yes, i was surprised by myself that is is working so uncomplicated and
really fast. I was thinking for a long time, if a Pi4 would better fit
my requirement because of the more powerful hardware and other
enhancemets. But this is only one side of the medal.
As you know, the Pi4

Dear Michael,
i understand now, that LMS has another software design and that it is
pointless to compare it with other software. I was just wondering and
could not believe.

Please don't misundesrstand me, im am just surprised, that this
wonderful software has not implemented the most common feature in
music-database-software.
The point is you chose to navigate your music the one way which is not
using the database _by_ _design_.
And no worries about your doubts

Dear Michael,
looking at your profile, it is now a bit embarrassing, that i askes you
if you are sure. Please excuse me. I should have done this earlier.:o
Well, it seems that i have to take it, as it is. Too bad.
Thank you again Michael for responding so quickly,
i read tons of documentation-sites in the squeezebox-wiki, but i have
not found even one sentence about how scrolling through "music libray"
is handeled, so how can you bes sure you are right?
Please don't misundesrstand me, im am just

Trust me, it is :-).

That's what you believe it should be. But it is not, really.

Thanks michael,
but i am not sure, if your answer is completely right:

Windows-filemanager.
