Mike,
Coastliner has been very good in the past. 2 hr departures make for
reasonable wait times. Always prompt. My only issue has been that the
red-eye flights that I take going that way arrive too late to catch
their last shuttle out (10PM by recollection, not reliable info).

Hi Geoff,
Who do you think you are kidding?.
I think the reason you have all the different scales, engines

It has nothing to do with your age or memory. You

I have been using the Coastliner service now for the past 5 years. I
used to rent a car which cost around $250 for the week. I didn't seem
to use it much after arriving at DH. The Coastliner's round trip fare
from the New Orleans airport to the Ramada Inn in Diamondhead is $54.

I'm planning on being there. The big disadvantage to the shuttle has always
been the price, IMO. For two of us, the cost was about $100, last time I
looked, while a week's car rental was about the same. With the car, we can go
to the surrounding towns to eat, sightsee in NO, etc., so I always g

Hello all,
How many list members are planning on attending the
Diamondhead Steamup (aka International Small Scale Steamup
and Arts Festival 2002) this January? I'm curious if anyone
has used the Coastliner airport limo service? Good/bad
experience? Pricey? Tip required?
Thanks in advance,
Mic

Harry,
There was some discussion on this topic in the SitG On-Line Chat room in the
middle of October, the 11th to be exact. It's still there! Just go to the
chat section, once inside, where it says Scroll Back 20 messages, put in

Has anyone yet tried replacing wicks with the ceramic/firebrick plug
as described in Ken Parkinson's article in the last SitG? I'm keen to try
this, and I've seen what I think is exactly the material he's using, but
can't find it locally and don't know what to call it. "Firebrick" around

Not meaning to further the confusion (or discussion), but most of the

I've seen articles on how to make simulated "flickering" kerosene

was caused by wind whipping the flame. Later I was told that the only
time the flames flickered was when a cheap grade of kerosene was used

I think he was refering to the way that all hydrocarbon fuels (even
butane) produce water vapor as they burn. Part of the combustion process
causes the fuel to give off hydrogen which then combines with the oxygen
in the air, giving off heat in the process. This part of the fire I know
