Tony, List et al,
Takes on to recognise another! except that Tony has youth on his side. Wish
he was bringing his coal fired 10mm to DH! Or I could take it for him??!!!
Incidentally; Diamondhead, I have found the Coastliner shuttle to be very
good after 8 years and inexpensive--25 bucks each
Trent et al,
Whoops, wrong scale but I attempted to fire an OS Porter- 3-1/2 gauge with
wood stove pellets. I couldn't find harwood so had to use softwood--bad!!
I'd get pressure up for a short while but the loco and I could not be
seen--lovely smoke screen, spectacular! Caught my hat afire with
Tch, Tch, Tony,
Wot memory?? So thanks, you've helped me. This will help me explain the
mix of locos and coaches I run. Anyway, my RR is a museum park, thus the
short runs and hodgepodge of locos and coaches. To explain the mix of
scales? Well no problem, the name of my RR is: The
Geoff,
Now you REALLY have my attention. Wood fired small scale, or large

Hi Gary,
So why not use a Jubilee or a Royal Scot or a Duchess, and
save the paint and hassle from the GWR fanatics?. (Just kidding).
They repainted two perfectly good engines to Crimson
Lake, and now have to repaint them Green again.
Here,s wishing

But Tony, everybody knows there's no magic in non-GWR locomotives. How could
they use anything BUT a GWR loco!
Thanks Keith,
In fact I'm taking a can of GWR paint to the movie--I'll show 'em. How?
well, locally there is also a preview of the movie The Majestic with
Jim Carrey in which I was an extra-- someone spotted me on the movie
street, so I'll just hang around on the screen and do the painting
I'm sure it's been pointed out by now, but Toys-R-Us (in the U.S.)
has the HO sparkies on the shelf.
I didn't pay any attention to price. (No Live Steam, no interest.)

Tony,
That sounds like a great scene to re-create on a layout. A locomotive
and crew looking for a switch that has been removed.
Oh, and thanks for passing along the story.

There were, indeed, two locomotives painted red and labelled 'Hogwarts Express'. The
one with the smoke deflectors, a rebuilt West Country class, toured early last year
when the 4th book was released. The second loco, 5972 'Olton
Thank you Tony for clearing up the muddy waters.
I love movies, but do not follow stars or movie news. I am not sure movie
news would have included the information you provided. I am sure British
papers carried more news than the States regarding this wonderful British
story/film.

You can see them at the url. Amazing how many very different engines
qualify. Perhaps someone knows why this engine claims Hogwart's Express
status.

Thanks Harry,
Think I'll dress up my King with crimson lipstick from one of the Bud
Lasses, change a bit of piping-- then drive it back to Hogwart's where I
think I originated as far as my memory of school goes-- you know, that
naughty boy who always plagued Harry, particularly on the train.
Hi Gary,
I have not been to the movies for years. But I do pick up
all the English
Heritage Railway magazines whenever I get over there. Made
three trips this year.
They have wonderful stories, updates and help break the
monotony of the 10hr
I understand the GWR purists ARE bedside themselves over this.

Those of the list,
It is too bad that the purists are so upset. They should realize the good
in the world wide exposure of one of their beloved locomotives. Despite her

Not even close. Someone is taking credit where no credit is due (as we

not seem to resemble the Hogwart's Express I recalled from the movie.
