particularly their 3420, with Corel Linux as an optional or additional
OS.

Dell laptops are good but come with RH or Mandrake. Dell often has special
drivers that only work with these two distros.
Don't forget that many laptops now come with winmodems - not the real thing
- so you need to allow for a PCMCIA FaxModem as well.
I've been using Hail Storm and Corel 1.2 on a couple of Compaqs - an old
Armada 1750 and new M700 without any hitch at all - other than sound

I find myself searching for a hig-end laptop to run Linux on. So, before I
drop $4000.00 to $6000.00 on a notebook, I thought I'd see what people on the
list have to say.
Here's my requirements:
- P3 600+
- 256MB RAM
- at least 14.1" display
- 10/100 NIC
- built in modem
- DVD/C
