For XMPP the master copy of the buddy list is stored on the server
(operated by Google, in the case of Google Talk). Pidgin does keep a
local copy, but it's just a copy of the list from the server.
I'm not aware of Google offering the ability to preload contact lists,
but I'd try searching around

You could try to figure out why Pidgin thinks the certificate is
invalid by running with "pidgin -d" to show lots of debug output (I'm
a little surprised the error message you're seeing doesn't already say
why it's invalid). The two most likely reasons I can think of are
either the clock on your A

transfers.

Is this with AIM or ICQ? For these protocols I believe Pidgin gets
the setting from the server, and the value that we get from the server
takes precedence over the local value. I see two likely scenarios:
1. You're signed into this account from another location, and the
other location is setting

of parental controls configured. And in this case I think you
wouldn't be able to sign in with AIM Express, either.

Sometimes this happens when using a Jabber/XMPP account where your
buddy list is managed by the server and the server forbids changes.
Could that be the case?
You could also open Help-->Debug Window, try deleting stuff, then look
for hints as to what may be wrong.

("pidgin-2.10.7.exe") is misbehaving. We've temporarily removed it
until we can figure out what's going on.

I don't see XEP-0068 or XEP-0082 listed at

This probably isn't something that Pidgin can control. Pidgin simply
displays the buddies that it is told to display. In this case it
sounds like the Facebook XMPP server is failing to send to Pidgin
either your roster or perhaps presence information for your roster.
