Update to Pidgin 2.5.7, and make sure you update both Pidgin and Libpurple.
Also, the pager server you use should be scsa.msg.yahoo.com

Changing the pager host was a temporary solution at best. It is likely
Yahoo eventually got around to disabling all servers providing access to
the old login method.
