Hi Art and All,

I'm looking at converting my 73 VW bug into an EV. Anyone know of plans or
a kit, or at least a good discussion of what it would take. It's a
learning-experience project. I would like to find a motor that would mate
to the current transaxle, if possible, but am open to other methods.

Following the series of postings about hydro-sorb and other hygroscopic

Full of optimism I immediately set up an experiment. Three glass jars:

*one with 0.81 sg ethanol

E85 is 93% the energy of gasoline (80460 btu/gallon, vs. 87000 btu/gallon)
so you will need about 13:1 vs 14:1 a/f. make sure you have ethanol rated
hoses and seals.
9:1 a/f is for neat ethanol (E100)
I would suggest increasing compression (shave the heads, or thinner head
gasket), and adjusting
