NASSAU Team USA won
Greene's 9.89 at Rome was his record ninth career 100m sub 9.90. He shared
previous record of 8 with Ato Boldon.
He also extended his world record lifetime total of sub-10.00s to 42. Oh
yeah, he also holds record for sub 9.8's -- one.

Actually, he shares the sub-9.8 record with Ben Johnson.

Actually, he doesn't. Cheaters' marks don't count.

So do a number of American athletes from as recently as Sydney, and going
back to Seoul. Shouldn't we remove those, as well? I thought we wanted a
level playing field.

When the record books are wiped clean of *all* such marks, not just

And what is your evidence that Greene's mark is one of the such marks?
When Greene or anyone else test positive or confesses they'll be known
cheaters too. And then their
I never accused Greene's marks of being such, nor do I intend my remarks
to be taken in that light. However, it is naive suggest that Ben Johnson
was the only such world class athlete to win medals and set WRs.
Evidence? Well, to begin with: many people chastise Ben for being a
triple cheat
And, lets not forget all those non-American athletes with pseud-NGB drug testing
programs.

Jonas,
Your point is very well taken but lost on(some of) this bunch. Until the US
and other countries are willing to go through the same self-induced rectal
examination as the Dubin inquiry was, they are not credible. You weren't
onlist yet but when Pound started to rattle a few chains, some on
So, let's have the names out in the open, and let's make them not count.
On this we can agree. I'm for full disclosure and for wiping out all marks
put up by cheaters, whoever they may be. I only ask that we do it based on
evidence rather than rumor or cynical suspicion.

Do a Dubin. Take it out of the hands of the sporting bodies. Steroids are
getting more and more play in the media. Time to have a congressional inquiry.

Draw your own conclusions.
Call it whatever you want. We did it in 1989. People testified that didn't have to
testify and
records were rewritten. A lot of countries could take a page out of that book
