Here's something that drove me crazy for a long time until I figured it
out, no thanks to Google.
Pressing Control-Enter on a link or using the context menu to open a
link in a new tab opens it in the background. This seems totally
illogical to me. But I finally figured out that if I pressed
Does Windows have a startup sound? My Windows-7 had one, but 8.4 hasn't
made a sound. Maybe I have to change a setting - I just haven't
bothered because of WE.

By default,
NOPE!
If you are familiar with scripting, or do know someone who are, you
might be able to make a small script, which would provide such a
feature. Funny why they never gave Jaws that small jingle, whenever Jaws
is starting or ending. I mean, WinEyes has had it for years,
Suppose you stick with Thunderbird.
Go ahead and install Thunderbird on your new computer, like you would
normally do. One good source to get the newest version, would be Ninite,
and there you actually can build a complete installer that will get your

Hi Richard,
Well, quite recently, I lost the ability to read emails as web pages in Outlook
2016, which, as you know, I prefer, rather than as plain text, as you do.
I haven't figured out how to fix my problem with reading Outlook email, and so
my only resort is to use NVDA or another screen

I now have my new computer. I wonder if anyone can tell me how to
backup all of my folders and email messages so I can move them. I made
a csv backup file for all of my contacts. If I move my email messages,
am I restricted to use TB or would I be able to use Microsoft Mail?

Hi David. I know I saved your tutorial about Goggle Chrome, but I can't

Yes, I understand. I was on the phone with him last night when he had
the problem. He did restart and tried both WE and jaws.
I walked him through a couple of things this morning and it is now
repaired. One thing that happened this morning was that his synth was
changed from DecTalk

Hi Carol,
Windows 10, current version, is running fine for me.
I can't imagine any update preventing Alt-tabbing between open apps.
I've seen the need to restart WE when focus issues, of which Alt-tab is one,
occur.
Best,
Rod

My brother told me that he had new updates yesterday which now prevent
him from using alt-tab. Is there a work-around for this? Thanks.
