Hi,
I'm nearby enough to pop-in. If someone tells me what I'm looking for
and I have someone else to pass them on to because I wouldn't know
what to do with them!

Hi,
Might be cool to set up a Saturday mapping party and social combined
somewhere easy to reach and needing some mapping between London and
Birmingham.
That's a great idea! Could you suggest a date? Date's are usually more
of a problem for me than location.
Cheers,
Ciarán
Hi,
I have to say I am really impressed with what you guys managed to do in such
a short time.
We indeed rock.

Hi,
I have just volunteered to run a stall at the Brixton Spacemakers
event his weekend[1]. I could do with some stickers and nice leaflets
to hand out. I know there are some materials on the website I can
print off, but I was hoping that OSM-F had some resources they were
willing to give me.
If
Hi,
There was talk on Saturday about a OSM hack day in Birmingham. Was
there any preliminary dates for the event? I'm going to miss the
London event, and have an idea I'd like to try out (making an OSM
based A-Z).

Hi,
You'd be more than welcome!
Having contributed is not a requirement to attend a mapping party.
I was the same as you, just turned up to a weekend mapping event and
got shown the ropes, and now I try and fit some in when I can.

Hi,
My questions is: If the map is printed on b/w will the rectification
work when it's uploaded in walking-papers.org?
Yes. The rectification/orientation stuff is done on shape rather than colour.

Hi,
Something that would be useful would be something akin to Walking
Papers, but with the ability to carve an area up, and have multiple
maps of it (zoomed out and zoomed in).
Even better if what you produce from Merkaartor was compaitable with
Walking Papers, or could implement the same
Hi,
The way they encode the QR code is public insofar that the source code
to walking papers is FOSS.
That isn't the patented technology. The algorithmn that is able to
calculated the orientation of the paper that is scanned and
re-orientate it (I have never scanned in a piece of paper
Hi,
If this in not the correct group for this, then what group would I ask
this question? I realize the your system is about street and I want to
misuse it for land areas, but it is such a nice system and looks like a
great framework to start building what I need from.
I'm afraid I don't
Hi,
Also I've spoken to Draco in the past, and his website does not sync
with OSM. He has tried to get help with a mass import but the
discussion was rat-holed due to supposed problem deriving data from
Royal Mails postbox list.
Hi,
We seem unable to contact Liam123 via normal channels. This means we
have to think of other ways of contacting members who continually put
mistakes into the dataset.
Is it not possible to put a flag on his account, so when he logs in he
is told what he has been doing and asked to explain
Hi,
I noticed the blisteringly fast rendering the other day, it had
started rendering before I'd even finished my editing session. Means I
will need to hone my JOSM skills so that I'm not the slowest part of
the system!
Thanks Sys Admin Ninja's, we love you all. :)

Hi,
Sorry, I should also have said ... there are two tags because someone
cared enough about the difference to want to differentiate them. I'm
surprised whoever that was hasn't spoken up.
That may be me. :)
I do see a clear distinction between a grave yard and cemetery. I care
little how
Hi,
It is difficult, but possible. Both me and Christoph have tried to map
bits of the campus.
I found that I had to do it in a half traditional - half technical
manner. The attached picture explains it better.
Each X is a waypoint, taken a distance away from the building in an
area you get
Hi,
Seen this map before, very cool. Do you use the postcode=* or
add:postcode=* to pull out the areas?

Hi,
I am a mapper who would be happy to have some kind of governance
process to the dispute of tags or acceptance of them.
As has been mentioned membership of OSMF and participation of SOTM
should not be factors, however we are all quite technically literate
so why note have IRC meetings every
What landuse are we using for hotels? I'm pretty sure it should be
commercial or retail.
I'm going to go with commercial, they as retail suggests that they
sell a physical product.

Hi,
UKUUG are looking for a talk about OSM for their Summer 2009
conference in Birmingham, I was the go-to-guy, however I may not be
the best person to present to the technical audience that are likely
to attend.
Is anyone else willing to do a talk.

Hi,
I've been asked to help coordinate an OpenStreetMap track at the UKUUG
Summer conference (http://www.ukuug.org/events/summer2009/). UKUUG is
(in my opinion) a hard core techie conference of sys-admins and
computer scientists.
The conference is being held in Birmingham, and I would have done
There are many areas that nearly everyone agrees is unsafe, even the
residents.
But not all the residents would have the same opinion.
But more importantly, there is a reasonable amount of subjective stuff in
OSM already e.g. permissive footways across vacant land, residential vs.
