(This question is also posted on the Mobile Trail Explorer ML.)
I made a 4 hour trip, recording over 100 places in audio with MTE. But the
saved gpx is 0 byte long.
Fortunately, I also saved the trace as a kml, which displays correctly in
google earth.
But if I try to convert from kml to gpx wit
User FredB made a nice import of a database of LPG stations (mostly in
France, I think), tagged accordingly. Take a look at

with data layer on.

For me the criteria is quite simple :
amenity=fast_food : get food at desk, pay at desk.
amenity=restaurant : food served at the table, pay at table.
The kind of food served, quality of service, or whether there is a dining
place or not is irrelevant (though restaurants always have one, obviously

I Consider recycling should be encouraged, and I map a recycling point when
I come across one. But I find it abnormally tedious to tag the type of goods
that can be recycled. This information should have been made easier to tag.
For instance, instead of :

I just tried it in my (newly mapped) area. Kudos, first routing service that
works for me, and the interface is nice.
Only critic I see, is that more emphasis could be but on choosing larger
ways when several are available. Like, choose a secondary instead of an

I just tried directupload on windows. It’s a nice idea. But when you click “ok”
nothing seems to happen. If you click again, it turns out that it uploads the
gpx twice. I’ll wait and see if the dupe is rejected or if it actually creates
a dupe, unneeded trace on the server.

No big deal, but when I hit < reply > on a talk@openstreetmap.org message,
it replies to the message originator, not the list. I have to hit "reply
all", and remove the originator.
On the French ML, I just have to hit "reply", as in most MLs. I use outlook
as a mail reader. Is this a problem ?

Just a cosmetic question here : I've been refining the coastline around my
place, south most point of Provence in S-E of France.
The old coastline is still drawn on the cycle map, with the new one in
dotted line.

Mobile internet access can be quite expensive (50€ /month here). I'd like to

it back at home with DSL.

IMO, comparing bus stops to post boxes or phone booths is a bit specious. Of
course the bus stop shelter, or sign, is off the road/street. Or else they
would cause some problems to motorists ! But they are in fact closely tied
to that road, as the buses that stop there drive on that road, not aside
Robin : my thought, more or less, but you expressed it better.
I've been tagging a few bus stops in my area, and placing them aside,
unconnected to the way felt a bit strange to me.
We should, however, find a standardized system to determine which side of
the way, or more exactly which direction of
It looks OK now.

I meant Thursday of last week, sorry. Time flies !
The may be a problem
Yes I had mapped the city limits quite precisely ,but the coastline was very
approximated. Making both match was a breeze.
You have to be careful, though, when selecting a way, not to insert an
unneeded new node inadvertently. I was confused at first, must get used to
it.
But overall it's a very go

The may be a problem with [EMAIL PROTECTED] : some tiles in the area I'm

regressed to their state as of last Thursday (or so).
Yesterday they were just fine.
Anyone noticed problems with their own area ?

I noticed yesterday that some of my recent additions were not displayed, and
wondered. This explains it all.
Id also like to say that I love this tool. Thanks for the great work !

I just added MTE to "My Applications" using the provided .jad file. On Sony

I'm testing Mobile Trail Explorer at

It has a new voice annotation feature and looks very convenient.
