I checked out one particular changeset, 35907472, looking at the
geometry changes at
http://osmhv.openstreetmap.de/changeset.jsp?id=35907472.
It appears like there is some missing data which they have added
(which is great).
But it also appears that they have removed
I have left a comment on his last change set .. suggesting not to reduce detail.
And that the new LPI information is good for park boundaries too.

Was just having a look at this imagery in around the Sydney CBD in Potlatch
2.
It's such an improvement over Bing, no more towers obscuring all the roads!

As Andrew pointed out explicit permission is required to import/trace
etc, data you do not own. It's part of the contributor terms of osm.

This basically says "if you don't own the data then you have permission
to use it".
I have made a diary entry about using the LPI Base Map to add road names
in Sydney using JOSM .. applies elsewhere too.

The base map is also usefull for National Park boundaries ... some of
these are rather 'confused'. It does not help

I just wanted to double check before I do this as people seem to talk
casually about using Vicmap Lite data but the OSM Wiki has a long process
to go through with the community before doing any imports.
I have downloaded "Statewide Public Land Classification boundaries, polygon
- 1:250,000
It has been pointed out to me (see OpenStreetMap | Changeset: 33674611) that we
don't have explicit permission to use any of the Vic Data products. I've tried
contacting them without any success. It would appear that others have managed
to get them to respond (see this thread [OSM-legal-talk]
