What I found unusual was the carbide light requirement. How carbide
generates less heat than electric lighting is beyond my tiny

From a perspective of biblical literalism, I think it's telling that when
angels appear, the first thing they say is always, "Fear not!" In other
words, they are described as being scary as shit. I just felt the painter's
overalls didn't really communicate the necessary sense of fear and awe.
