Is he the guy that had the historic displays of ascenders and descenders at
the NSS Conventions ?
That display was interesting.

David,
If this was intended as link for Bob Thrun, according to Gary Storrick there
was no obituary in the paper (not uncommon). Bob Thrun also lived in Maryland,
not Connecticut, and was 77 at the time of his passing, not 88, and just died,
not in 2008…

Gill,
If your replay has to do with Geary’s comments then this isn’t relevant to my
reply.
It is, however, Bob Thrun, not Thren, who just passed away 2 weeks ago. This
was verified by Storrick, who personally drove over and rescued all his caving
related items.

Folks,

And this is why I'm not on Facebook.

Great. There needs to be more history and perhaps a museum of some sort.
Caving has been around for a long time as we all know from all those Alley
Oop cartoons.

A small update:
Further conversations with NSS Member Gary Storrick updated us that during
Bob's visit with his sister in California last year he wanted his vertical
collection to go to Gary. Gary asked me to call him and we discussed not only
the vertical collection, but also all his other
couldn't be boystown. they will not let him in

Bob caved with Squire Lewis and was a party to Squire's book. We caved in
the Valles area. Hung out at a cantina on the plaza back in the good old
days.

FYI,
Geary
Folks,
Wm Shrewsbury (the NSS President) told Yvonne Droms that Bob Thrun passed away
a couple weeks ago. We don't know the date or the exact details, but I
understand Bob had been feeling ill (flu) the day before he passed away, and
apparently passed away in his sleep.
