I blame the six or eight tick bites I got on trips to Powell's cave in the
1990s for my alpha-gal mammal-meat allergy that surfaced around 1997 or

I drew the Kiwi Sink map using Inkscape. I like the app a lot, and I like
the fact that it's open source, but it did crash at least 50 times while
working on the map. The saving grace is that it does a great job of
creating a backup of your project when it detects that it has crashed.

Someone had some of that glow-in-the-dark rope from Harbor Freight out at
the Kerrville Folk Festival last year. It looked great for the first few
days, but then basically stopped glowing much at all. It was outside exposed
to the sun being used to hold down tents and shade canopies.

There's all those ranches next to and nearby to Colorado Bend State
Park, probably loaded with hundreds of caves just like the park, but no
one has initiated a project. Terry Holsinger or Cory Evans (CBSP
superintendent) could find you a contact to get started. Could be the

The next Colorado Bend State Park project will be January 14th. Arrive the
evening of the 13th if you can. We have reserved the conference center with
lots of bunk beds for everyone to stay in (and a kitchen if you feel like
cooking). We will do data work Saturday evening after surveying caves
it banks hard right into the parking area. Don't fall in the
creek on your way across the walking bridge or the piranhas will eat you
alive.
We really need sketchers and sets of survey instruments and gps units,
so please bring who and what you can.
