I thought the W7 should be much better than XP. BUT: I had to do a dirty job with one virus in command line (terminal). And what was running in XP didn't run in W7: simple dir -a. The help wrote that switch -a should generate list of all files in directory. But it DOESN'T . W8 is much more funny

A good response then, thank you all very much... even though I could hear the disguised sneer in the Mac user's comment! ;) It seems that Win7, 8.1 and Debian are all contenders for a Therion user. This may be getting off topic... My needs are; -low risk, I cannot afford an interruptio

I'm staring down the barrel of having to migrate away from Windows XP. To help me get started on the decision making process, are there any tales of terror or reassurance from the Therion family of application users with Win7 or Win8.1? To name a few applications that need to integrate well,

Even Windows are not my primary OS I can say that Win7 is much much better system than WinXP. It is actually probably the best OS from Microsoft not crippled by Modern (Metro) = Win 8.x. I have only positive experience with Win7 32/64bit and therion stuff. I am big fan of free software and GNU/Linu

I have been running Notepad++, Therion, Survex, PocketTopo, Topparser and Adobe pdf readers on W7 for several years. The only problems I have had are with Aven & that's down to that program not W7. I have never had a problem with Xtherion not recognising thconfig files without a name extension.

So I can recompile my projects without needing to close the PDF viewer and the PDF is refreshed in the Sumatra w
