I have added other options for the menus, there are options for a menu using icons on the left, on the right, in the top left and the top right. Aside from being able to toggle the menus and change their content I haven't added much that the user can customize yet. Here is the new demo

As an unrelated question, I am trying to get conditional view templates ( http://tb5.tiddlyspot.com/#Conditional%20ViewTemplate%20Section) to work correctly in the contacts database I made and I am running into problems where the template isn't being applied when a tiddler is transcluded.
