I was also never told the why or how I got TM. Really, I am not sure that I
have TM. I'll explain.
Back in Sept of 06 I had a little lower back pain. The next day the pain went
down my right calf. The next day the pain was now in my lower back, right
calf and now in the left calf.

Do most of you know why you got Transverse Myelitis? I was not told a reason
why I had gotten it. Even at Baylor University. I don't recall anyone asking

I was told my TM was probably the result of my flu shot 11/03. Had
intermittent numbness on the right side after that, but it always went away
until 2/04. Then numbness muscle weakness progressed
Be aware that at least one other condition SEEMS to mimic the gross
symptoms of TM, namely, an artery blockage within the spinal cord.
However, the spinal fluid will not indicate signs of inflammation.
This was my situation. I left the hospital with paraplegia, a
diagnosis of TM and a lab

I asked that question a while ago. I have had Crohn's disease for a few
years now. When I went to my gastroenterologist after I was diagnosed with
TM,
she appeared to be quite concerned, which led me to believe that the Crohn's
had something to do with my TM. She assured me

No. One doctor I saw at Emory said that even if they could have analyzed
everything I came into contact with on the day I was hit with TM, there was no
way to know what set it off.
I know of some who got TM directly after an inoculation or an illness, but I
think most of us don't know.
