One of the really useful (if unintended!) features of my SB 3/Classic
was when my service provider shut off the internet (we need to re-login
every 12 hours for security reasons), the SB 3/Classic screen would show
a Unable to connect to Mysqueezebox for a few seconds, and then the

I think one always needs to listen to speakers and its hard to just pick
one by looks or spec's off the Internet.
I own a pair of AudioEngine A5s and used them at the cabin Memorial
weekend and in the garage this weekend, both times with the Touch. They
work really well with a Duet, Touch, or
Thanks to all for the speaker recommendations so far!
Due to the excellent DAC of the Touch I think I'll get a pair of analog
active speakers instead of speakers with integrated DAC like the
Blow4D.
Furthermore in my kitchen the speakers will be placed about 1m away of
the touch each. So an

Of course. My 'speculation' of a new Touch was a poor attempt at

the Touch because Crutchfield has it marked as discontinued.

Do you have to make a setting somewhere first? My SB TTouch just
'blinks', but no confirmation is shown And also, the 'pre' is not
'set'.

Agreed! With demand still high and people bitching that they can't buy
or order one, what company would discontinue the Touch? Answer: Not
even Logitech!

No, no need to make a setting. Did you try with other stations? How

I can second iPhone's recommendation for the Adam speakers.
I've got a pair of A5s and I'm probably getting myself an additional
pair of A7s to work without a subwoofer in another room.
Although I will have to do the listening comparison. Last time my
dealer convinced me to buy the A5 when I
I see a lot of comments here in the forums claiming that the sound
quality of the Touch is superior than that from the Duet (which I
currently have).
If I'm reading these correctly, people seem to be saying that even when
using the digital output from each model, the Touch still delivers

...In this kind of set up the Duet or Touch are acting solely as a user

Thank you Peter for the link to the other thread, plenty there for me to
chew over.
SuperQ, I agree, it would be interesting comparison between the two. If
I take the plunge and order a Touch I'll try and give DiffMaker a run
(although I'm no sound engineer).
If the difference in sound quality
