Strange, that difference on my systeem between the Classic and the

be far smaller then what I hear in reality. Perhaps the DAC's

Anyway, I realised I had my systeem tweaked to improve the focus
Is the Touch still not available in Canada? Nowhere here seems to have
it (or have ever had it), even though they list it in their inventory.

Dura, give the Touch some time.
Our brains get used to a certain sound, and when we change a component
we often (subconsciously) don't like the sound b/c it is different, and
our reference sound is the sound we are used to.
Try listening only to the Touch for a few weeks, and then compare to

I've read several somewhat negative reviews of the Touch by reviewers
who didn't know about it's hi-res capabilities or its built in SBS (no
external server necessary) - in other words, they missed the point of
the device.
So it will be refreshing to read a review in Stereophile, as they
should

Just kidding, but couldn't resist tweaking the conspiracy theorist.
I agree with Phil,

50% is to little , sbs uses a 24bit digital volume control so it's
quite good, but 50% would be to close for comfort.
100% if you have a volume controll in the preamp this would maximise
snr ratio on the Touch.

In forums all over the internet (including this one) the sound quality
using Touch's built-in server has been thoroughly trashed as inferior
to using an external SbS. So much so that I wouldn't be surprised to
see it either not mentioned at all or else similarly discounted in an
audiophile

I can just change the gain structure of the amp. Either can work...

As we await the Stereophile and TAS reviews perhaps we can amuse

contain. I'll go first.
Stereophile:
1) They will give the Touch a favorable review and say that it is big
step up from the SB Classic.
2) They will state that while

When you look at powerline in combination with a Sheevaplug, you might want
to have a close look at the power consumption of the powerline adaptors. If
I remember right a test report I read about a year ago, these adaptors
