When trying to use aplay to play music you have to make sure that
squeezeplay is not connecting to it. If squeezeplay is connected then
you will get the "cannot set hw params" message.
This probably means that you have already changed the asound.conf to
point to the USB DAC. This is what you DON'

I just bought a Squeezebox Touch. I first thought that my problems were
caused by Wi-Fi stability issues, so I connected it to ethernet. I
connect directly to mysqueezebox.com
This is what happens:
1. I plug in the power
2. When done booting, I start music from one of the sources (internet

No
I recently upgraded my Receiver to a Touch in order stream 24/96. Still,
I liked the minimalist design of the Receiver way better and will only
touch the Touch on rare occasion as I always use my Controller, so Id
really like the display to stay off by default.
Ive set all the screensaver setti

Yes, most stations do compress, but a choice few do not.

I would not be surprised, in fact sometimes they do and they announce
it. Lots of times its Vinyl, but mostly CDs.

Don't be too surprised if you find out that your local FM college
station is playing MP3s. Many radio stations today are.

You have this now. No MySB.com credentials entered into SBS =

There are a couple different types of connection to mysqueezebox.com.
One is where the server or device logs into your mysb.com account. This
way it can retrieve your mysb favorites, your apps, and control the
player from mysb.com's web interface.
The other is an anonymous connection to the mysb

This is a funny statement from someone who is telling others that they
don't have a clue what they are doing. Actually no, you don't have to
be logged into mysb.com at all.
Did anyone succeed with a dCS device ?
I vainly tried and even using the "plug" (rather than "hw" in order to
avoid format issues) I only get the usual 1022 error message: "aplay:
set_params:1022: Unable to install hw params:"
I can see the device with "aplay -l" command but way to go further th

I've seen the thread on this but it doesn't seem to answer my question.
I have an example where 'cover.jpg' is present and Squeezebox Server is
showing it but my Touch just shows the image of a CD in a case. I've
been noticing a few missing covers recently but normally they

With *very* few exceptions, all intern
The bit rate is not irrelevant, the higher the bitrate (assuming it is
well encoded) the fewer people there are who in a blind test can tell
MP3 from the uncompressed original. Once you get to 256k there are very
few people who can tell the difference (except maybe on very carefully
