There really is no difference hardware wise. Idle means its not playing anything, and sleep means its not playing anything and is displaying the "sleep" screensaver. That's it. This means that the ONLY difference between idle and sleep is that idle displays the idle screensaver and sleep displays

The problem usually has to do with ALSA "card numbers". The music goes to the "default" ALSA device. The schemes for USB change what actual device is called "default" so the musiv goes to the USB DAC. The "effects channel" is hardcoded to go to device 2. When a USB DAC is plugged in it usually man

Tried ethernet connection. Tried dropping Spotify streaming rate to 160kbps. No difference. Did broadband speed test and returned download speed of just over 1mbps. Downloaded Triode plug-in after reading some other forum posts - all working 100% now. Thanks and all the best, Paul -- Paul T
