It's a feature (actually bad design) in some DAC's. They really
shouldn't do it. Unfortunately the only solution is to change DAC's.

My friend and I have done some kind of improvements to the Duet.
We are specialized in low jitter solution for audio and have done a lot
for old school Wadia DACs.
We also have done some job for the cd players, ie ultra accurate clocks
and ultra low jitter SPDIF output. Happily we have found
