You can also update Touch's firmware via SD card and a firmware bin file. But you can also force an update to re-update to it's current version. It will tell you that this firmware is already installed and ask if you wish to reinstall it anyway. Touch > Settings > Advanced > Software Update

Wow, thank you garym and dasmueller, I think that I am making progress slowly, I did as you suggested garym, downloaded and installed new software went through faultlessly also registered with mysqueezebox.com and was able to change owners at the same time, so that is all OK now. Managed to search

Thanks Pascal - good to know. However with the MDAC you have the opportunity to try the EDO applet - you can alway try, then revert back to how it was if necessary. Who knows, the sound quality might go from 'excellent' to 'sublime'. --
