I just tried kernel #9 and it's not working yet.
According to NAD support, they will look at it. Here's what they told
me:
We briefly tried this but had no success. Right now we are working on a
major project and as soon as that is completed we plan to look at the
Linux driver for M51.

However, Info Chiu from the manuf. will send me a testing file that I
will have to flash onto my TE8802L-based usb input board,

That's the new messages.txt.

I brought back my NAD M51 due to the lack of EDO support. If your
supposition was true, could be dealt with that solely from the Touch
side? Or is it the firmware of the NAD which
Couldn't resist and bought the NAD M51 anyway.
Here is /var/log/messages with audio.codec, audio.output and
audio.decode debugging enabled. There is no /proc/asound/N20/stream0, it
fails earlier.

The message.txt of my last post has been created with the alternative

Me too, no luck with a NAD M51 over its USB port (SPDIF up to 192k works
as expected).
According to the specs it should be fully USB Audio
copies now. The SoX settings I used for downsampling are: -vsLa (-v:
very high quality, -s: steep 99% bandwith, L: linear phase response,
-a: allow aliasing above passband). The results when streaming as PCM
are quite pleasing.

What I said earlier in this thread is complete bullocks. Mea culpa.
Mr JJZolx got it right in this post
http://forums.slimdevices.com/newreply.php?do=newreplyp=625287. His
custom-convert lines should work but SoX does not seem to be capable of
proper PCM resampling.

managed to do so.
If you could explain how and why things are the way they are, I would
be grateful.

Correct me if I'm wrong. I would like to be.

right,
to make a true comparison, you'd have to stick to 16/44.1 or 24/96
files.

looking forward to listening to hi-res files through the

that this is a misunderstanding. Maybe the
subcontracting studio knows a way to preserve 24/96 while converting DSD
to PCM. I mean hey, it's David Chesky from Chesky Records who owns and
runs HDtracks! He sure knows how to deal with sampling rates.
