worth looking at the soundsticks, one negative though is that
there is no remote and I have the Touch at 100% volume so you need to
get up and down to change volume

achillies heel for SB in comparison to Sonos range in that Sonos
controls those 2 factors differently in the design giving more 'plug
and play' however that doesn't mean that SB don't work well out of the
box.

plug direct into the socket!)
What I'll probably do when the server is back downstairs is try them on
one of the players and see how that performs

Thanks both for the clarification, I guess I was used to using
headphones with the Boom which has that option. No problem to turn off
the speakers.

VB is mapped to the actual usb drive on the touch, that way you could
use the VB to rip/tag and then music is stored on the touch, although
seems a bit of a hassle and would be restricted by your network
capability.

o haven't got a server and are looking at SB
players - usb drives are inexpensive and it sounds great to be able to
plug this in without having a pc/server running

upstairs and I connect via ethernet powerplugs to my
router downstairs which then streams to 3 SB players, one wired to the
router and 2 wirelessly.

I remember seeing this advertised and thought 'looks good and that will
attract a lot of potential users but when you get into it its probably
not up there with a Squeezebox'
