Ah that explains it: the Nordost interconnects will definitely be
creating su
"Why does it work?" has answers at two extremes. At one end, the
equipment change resulted in some technical improvement - perhaps lower
interference or noise - that you're now hearing.
At the other end, it could be all in your head.
In the middle, it could be a combination of those factors.

Yes, I am using the Analogue outputs
FWIW, the system downstream from the touch is fairly transparent -
Nordost Red Dawn interconnects, Pioneer A400 amp, Stirling LS3/5a V2
speakers.
