There are various potential hacks, and then there is NTP, which is what
anyone sensible use. To get NTP on your Touch, please follow my

Clearly not... I was planning to buy an additional Radio or Boom2 for
bedside alarm, but that
In a previous thread on the subject a developer stated that TinySBS was
supposed to be checking in with MySB.com every so often, but this
doesn't seem to be happening.
You don't actually have to connect with the outside world to update the
time. The Touch's RealTimeClock (RTC) is quite accurate,
As noted earlier, the first hurdle is that Touch doesn't have cron,
which is the standard *nix scheduling utility.
If one has another computer running in the house, it may be possible to
use it to schedule a job that logs into the Touch and tells the Touch to
go out and get the time from a time
I wonder if someone couldn't write an Applet that "checks in" with MySB
once a day for time updates?
I honestly don't know if my SB players are even on the correct time
zone as I have no interest in their clock/alarm functions, but
obviously others do use these features.
I have more friggin clock
OK thanks for the suggestions. I've voted for the bug report. I've also
managed to put `switch to mysb.com' on my main menu (sometimes this
might be simpler as there's no need to rescan etc). I'll check this
actually resets the clock next time it drifts. But surely this is a
design fault, undermi

Yup, switching servers between TinySBS, MySB, SBS, is the same. Just
as you can switch from full SBS to MySB without having to stop SBS.
TinySBS
It's a common misconception that an external server has to be "on all
the time". It would only have to be on when you want to listen to music
from your own collection. Other times it can be
suspended/hibernated/shutdown. Then the server can be brought back to
life by a simple WOL signal from the T
Thanks for the reply.
Right, I only ever use TinySBS (with a USB drive plugged in the back).
(I have been assuming this is the intended usage for all of us who
don't want to leave a computer on all the time?) I seem to be in
agreement with the reporters of the bug you cite.

The should automatically update the time from mysb.com or the server
running SBS. If you're getting clock drift does that mean you only ever
use TinySBS (the Touch's built-in server)? If that's not the case, then
the issue becomes why isn't your Touch getting the time from mysb.com
or the server.
There are various threads noting that the clock on the Touch drifts. For
me it drifts 30 seconds a day and it is incredibly annoying. These
threads don't seem to suggest an automated solution (I am fed up with
unplugging my touch every few days to reboot it to get the correct
time). Can anyone sug
