Not really! --- It was actually a lot faster and easier than working
with Support. I installed the OS and my apps in less than a day. The
support marathon lasted well over a week and
I'm glad it worked for you, but I hardly think telling people to
reinstall their OS is a viable fix for the average user.
If old programs and registry dead ends are causing such issues I'd
suggest a good registry temp garbage file cleaner from several free
sources.

prior I suppose such cleaners may not have found that and removed/fixed
