Mine happily works with a Sandisk 64G stick

I have now been playing with the USB memory stick for a couple of days,
and I still have a smile on my face; the performance is perfectly
adequate, and there have been no glitches. I always switch the SBT unit
off when I have finished (I live in a rural area of England), but the

I have chosen to use a USB-stick for size and reliability, and also
because it is completely silent (I actually have a powered WD drive of
320GB laying around, but it is used as back-up for my laptop); I just
prefer it. In addition, I want to keep the classical stuff separate

I used a Toshiba Canvio 1 TB external HDD directly attached to the USB
port on the Touch for many months. No sound issues at all. It is
probably larger than what you are looking for but some external
non-powered HDDs do work. Just be careful about return policies if you
run into issues. Each
I had my SBT delivered about three weeks ago but, apart from checking
the contents of the box, I did not touch it until a couple of days ago.
However, it has proved completely simple to set up, with the only issue
being clearing the USB-stick before use (I did this after reading

I understand that SD cards are limited to 32GB, presumably because the
Touch only has SDHC support (SDXC would be necessary for more).
Some portable players with microSDHC ports that supposedly only support
32GB have been shown to work fine with current generation 64GB
I'm planning on using a very similar setup as you (but with 32gigs) so I
would really appreciate if you could report back on what scan times to
expect.

Thanks for all of the replies; I am about to get an SBT to play with...

Thanks JohnSwenson, that was exactly the sort of information I was
looking for; although I assume that your estimates were based on USB
disks, I would not expect much worse with, say, a SanDisk Ultra 64GB
stick, so it doesn't seem to be a problem.
Do you, or does anyone else (garym?) know how

Hello,
I am thinking of getting a Touch and using it with a 64GB memory
stick, at least initially, using FLAC encoded files exclusively.
Performance with the local TinySB may be a problem though; can anyone
advise me on what sort of start-up/scan times I might see with, say,
50GB-odd of music in

You have to remember that there are two types of scans, the initial full
scan and then the quick scan which is invoked every boot after that.
The first time you plug in a drive with a bunch of music it will not
have a database on the stick, so it will do a full scan of all the
files, it reads
