I have only had my Squeezebox Touch for a couple of weeks and am also
connecting media via USB rather than via ethernet. This may not
directly answer your question about why you get scrambled tracks but
you could try my approach.

Thanks, but Shuffle was OFF. I forgot to mention that sometimes the
display would indicate that track A was playing when it was (for
example) playing track D.
I'm new here so please forgive me if this has been covered. I've
connected a powered USB drive to the touch with about 13,000 songs on
it. Touch scanned the drive and found all the songs without an issue.
However, if I select a track from an album, it often plays a completely
