I had very similar symptoms, with a touch, a Netgear Orbi, with
disconnects every day or two.I tried a cheaper version of the new
adaptor approach here:

Here is a one solution to the disconnect problem, which I posted earlier
today:

It involves buying a more modern WiFi adapter that connects to the
Touch's Ethernet port for data, and its USB
Touch is definitely not 5ghz. I also tried moving around the Orbi
satellites. Did not help and it compromised my other connections. I used

maintain a 5G connection, even when too far to get a reliable, good
connection, and they did not
I have two touches. Each will not stay connected to my new Eero Mesh
System (WiFi). They disconnect over night, over day, over anything.
Infrequently I can get a reconnection though the Advanced/network menu
item; most frequently have to reboot with power off, and that usually

The weird thing is , after it disconnects I select the network I want to
connect to. When I select it ,it wont connect. Despite showing a full
connection. I need to unplug the touch for a min, and it automatically
reconnects upon reboot.
