I'm guessing the OP want's to use IR to control the Receiver while standing in front of it (ie in a different room to the Touch). There is an easy way to do this - just use a Powermid or similar! http://www.letsautomate.com/10404.cfm I've used one for years (for TV/SKY control from the bedroom)

The Receiver does not listen to IR. You can control it through/sync it to the Touch, though. Or control it from your mobile phone, web browser, etc. In order to set up the Receiver without a Controller, you will have to use the 'net::udap' (http://forums.slimdevices.com/showthread.php?t=57861)
