There is no stable/official Shell 3.4 for Trisquel.
If you want to try Shell 3.4, do this after you've installed Shell:
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:gnome3-team/gnome3
sudo add-apt-repository ppa:ricotz/testing
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get dist-upgrade
This will add unofficial and test
Doesn't happen to me.
Is that a fresh install or an upgrade from something older? Sometimes there
is a difference...
This doesn't happen to me either. Maybe there's something funny with your
install or then it's your hardware which is different from mine...
And to set the record straight, read

Sounds crazy. First, you should learn of the Magic system request, the often
cited sequence is REISUB (Raising elephants is so utterly boring) instead of
forced power off. It usually works. This might save you from file system
corruption. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_sysrq

Hello again.
The reason I used Speed Dial is that I like my browser to open independently
of having to connect to a website. If their server is down I don't want to
wait 3,000 years to navigate to some place else.
I changed my settings:
1. I removed Speed Dial
2. In Preferences, "When Abr
Hello icarolongo
I am having the same problem with preferences.
Please let me see if I understand the order of your instructions...
1. From the Preferences menu select "Show my windows and tabs from last time"
(that's how the selection reads).
2. Close Abrowser
3. Select "Show my home page
I know this thread is a little old but for anyone who is looking for a fix
the bug has been fixed in Trisquel 5.5 from upstream.
Is there any way to install 3.4 in Trisquel?
Oh, I didn't try the startup disk creator. Doh.
Thanks Lembas
You need install gnome-session
You can solve this problem select "open last session", close Abrowser, after
choose "start homepage".
And you can see the most Flash video sites with Linterna Magica.
Install add-on Greasemonkey in Abrowser:
https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/greasemonkey/
Restart if required.
And
Trisquel package versions match the corresponding Ubuntu versions. Which
means we'll only get Shell 3.4 with the next version of Trisquel (=
Ubuntu Precise), unless Ubuntu backports it to Oneiric.

Thanks, this is working for me, and I installed the packages in our repos. Is
there any reason we don't have the most recent stable builds? I also could
find any stable 3.4 deb or ppa.
You will need to install "gnome-shell" and "gnome-session".
To run a possibly more up-to-date GNOME Shell 3.2, add this PPA:
https://launchpad.net/~gnome3-team/+archive/gnome3
You might want to download the Ubuntu version of Gnome Tweak Tool because
Trisquel's version removes the Shell hack
Another problem... =(
When I press CTRL+H in the home folder, nautilus also make the icons
smallers...
I never tested Dirac. VP8 though is not bad. It offers higher compression
rates than DivX / XVid but at the penalty of higher CPU load.
720p and 1080p stuff looked fine at reasonable bitrates but none of my
systems can cope with CPU load at 1080p :-(
I know that Apple and the MPEG group have expressed doubts over the patent
validity of VP8, but it should be fine as long as Google plays nice right?
Also, what about the Dirac codec? I remember checking in a year or so ago on
the progress and still seems like there's work that has to be done
I usually have around 100-150 tabs (subdivided into about 10 groups).
But Abrowser 11 didn't go over 1/1.5GB. Now, I think I solved by setting
"Minimize memory usage" through about:memory.
Anyway, before do that, I print the complete output of about:memory when
Abrowser took about 4GB: coul
I turned the keyboard on and off using the Universal Access setting to
test if it was the same thing you are referring to. But now I have
another problem: after I disabled it, the keyboard is still being
displayed when I lock the screen.
I couldn't find a GUI to fix that, but you can disable it wi

You have enabled the screen keyboard. Since I have my Trisquel installed with
german settings I can not really tell you how to de-activate it.
Inside the system configuration there is a symbol shown: A blue circle with
some white men in it. In german it is called "Barrierefreiheit" which is

I've tried to attach a screenshot but it didn't work.. it's a pop up keyboard

Yes, this would be cool but I rather think they will stay software only but
name what exact specs are required to play 1080p in Theora.
Based on my tests with Theora in higher resolutions (720p / 1080p) I would
say not need a system capable to decode 1080p coded in h264 without hardware
