I'm lurking on Diaspora for several months already (same username). There are
a lot of interesting news about free software and GNU/Linux.
I didn't find a lot to do there besides reading news, but there seems to be a
picture sharing service that you can use to share photos with friends. Never
The Apache Web server is running (I know it is Apache server because it is
the one in dependence of the owncloud package). Because it is a server, it
should run even if your user is not logged in, i.e., it is a system
component. You can start/stop/restart/status it with:
$ sudo service apach
Someone asked the same question there. I hope it helps (I have never tried
owncloud). If it does not, I recommend you typing "ubuntu owncloud" in a Web
search engine.
Scratch what I said about this issue happening while typing. I rebooted about
five minutes ago, and the GPU hang occurred while I was reading a Wikipedia
article.
I was not typing anything and I was not moving the mouse.
I actually just went to localhost/owncloud and it was the startup page. Does
that mean its starts automatically when the computer logs in? Or is that just
an HTML page that is loaded, and the server itself isn't actually running
yet? And if so, how do we set the Startup Applications in Trisqu
For the past 6 months, I had been using Mint 12 on this computer without GPU
hangs. (In my previous message, I said the GNU/Linux distro I used previously
was derived from Ubuntu 11.04 "natty". I was wrong. Mint 12 is derived from
Ubuntu 11.10 "oneiric".)
I have noticed a pattern tonight. T
Sorry took so long to reply to your specific comment. Its been busy round
home lately and finally getting some extra time to try and work more on
moving to Trisquel. :-)

I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one inquiring. If we can get them to
release the code (or nudge those capable of it) then this will be a good
board to replace the Raspberry Pi. It is too bad the Raspberry Pi project
isn't making a stink about it too. I would think they have a lot of pu

sounds like there is an easy way to test the hardware. Run from that older
version and use the live mode for testing. If the issue does not appear it's
probably a driver issue. If the issue does appear it may be a hardw

Synapse and not synaptic lol.
would ownCloud normally show up in the application menu list? or as @lembas
said, do I need to search for the ownCloud folder, then look for the
executable binary I would need?
Sorry getting my application names mixed up. I meant Synapse. The Gnome Do

Is ownCloud launched from the terminal? And after that, what local address do

ask me for a new admin password and username?
It mentions a hung GPU so I would assume that there's a problem with the
hardware. Intel's graphics drivers are open-source and the best version is
already available to Trisquel.
I recently installed Brigantia on a Dell Dimension 4500S. This desktop
computer was, until the upgrade, running another GNU/Linux distribution
derived from Ubuntu "natty".
After the upgrade, I've been experiencing a kind of crashing that I don't
know how to describe properly. My screen goes
Next time, on let's all argue, we continue the free games argument. It
gets very heated, so don't miss it. Please tune in tomorrow at one pm.

t3g is trying to derail the free software movement once again
In this case Stallman is absolutely right. I'd like to see games on the
GNU/Linux platform but not at any price. I don't want to give up my freedom
for a computer game.
Saying Stallman is trying to derail GNU/Linux adoption doesn't make sense to
me. Without him GNU/Linux wouldn't exist as w
Yes, I should have asked. What version of Trisquel are you running? As
Magic Banana mentioned the package is not in 4.0. All other supported
versions should have it.
For those of you posting in here I would advise you contact quidam via email
or IRC because he doesn't actively monitor the forums. I have clearly
expressed my concerns but if more of the community stands up and says "we
want this" it might mean more.

I don't understand that part about synaptic but ignoring that, you can type
dpkg -L owncloud|grep /bin/
to see the binaries installed by the package. Try running those.
I made an issue about this a [https://trisquel.info/en/issues/6059 bit ago].
I agree with the idea although usually I see the terms "moderator" and
"administrator".
I do not know if the forum supports this feature but, like in many other
other forums, administrators could be elected (or named by the Trisquel
leader) and have the power to ban the two individuals who are harming the
community.
I've been e-mailing their support, and it seems good news may come about.
I had previously asked them what driver would be used for the video, hoping
to know the name so I could search for it and in turn finding if it's Free or
not. Keyword 'hoping'.
To which they replied on the 27th of Jul
Unless you are still using Trisquel 4.0 Taranis, the "owncloud" (spelled like
this) package *is* listed by Synaptic. As a consequence, it can easily be
installed through it.
I know it is useless but I will anyway point out that...
I was right since you answer that I had "nothing to add".
I perfectly know that "calling someone a troll" is "name calling" (although
it looks far weaker than "pussy" to me). You can check that I spent tens of

THANK YOU! I thought it was there cause of the PPA I added. But removed that
and still was there, so guess should have checked that first lol.
Its just I was following the instructions on the ownCloud site and it was

I think this would be a good improvement. Also, I would like to see the user

Sorry to bump this thread, but I really feel that a sticky post on top
of each forum is necessary.
I am kind of sick of seeing how sometimes the forum is abused.
Thanks,
