Here is a video of the latest version of e17 (which I'm using on all my
computers including on the Neo Freerunner which runs the mobile version of
this on Debian) which looks much better in my opinion:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kHJuMuMXjlE
e17 would also work well if Trisquel wants to
The only definition I can think of is 'incomplete'. The only native
application, besides the environment itself, is their file manager. They need
more and I'm counting on it for E18.
It is not very easy to modify it in the sense you won't screw it up by
accident like you could delete the gn
I'm going to be open-minded and watch the videos. Enlightenment is the one I
probably know the least about ... I've been avoiding it.
XFCE would get my vote, Using Gnome Classic just makes things feel old.
I think that E18 by the end of this year will be suited for desktop use as
much as other DE's.
Here are some neat things you can do with E17 right now:

E16 was a window manager. E17 is a half DE. I mean half as it is the first
release to have the intention of being a DE, although they lack a lot of
common apps (but the underlying software (libs etc) is ready already).
Enlightenment is a window manager, not a full DE, and it's a
counter-intuitive one at that. Avoid.
You're certainly free to install LXDE and boot into that. But keeping the
Mini edition to the same standard of stability as the main edition has always
been a tall order for this project. It's always been riddled with bugs and
oversights, in the versions I've tested.
By Ubuntu 14.04 LTS, AMD might even jump on the bandwagon and offer fully
libre 3D accelaration for their GPUs, too. That would seal the deal for us.
Debian won't include the firmware in its main repository or on the install
CDs. It should go into a package with the carl9170 firmware eventually.
Not sure what your asking. There is no need to return it. Your testing has
helped. These are not exactly exspensive parts. It's the entire time th

Oh! OK. :-)
Sorry for the confusion.
All Intel chipsets and most nVidia cards handle 3D acceleration. Reasonably
modern CPUs hardware can run GNOME Shell (the recent versions of it) with

No, even the magic keys do not work... It's really completely frozen.
In this occasions, probably, you can reboot safely using the Magic SysRq key:
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Magic_SysRq_key (kudos to Lembas for pointing
this out in another thread/topic).
On Slashdot a few days ago as well:

You misunderstood me. I meant TP as ThinkPenguin, not as Trisquel Project.
You probably heard about the FSF hardware certification program (you can find
more details here) and these wireless USB adapters will also fall under this
category (at least not officialy yet).
I do have patience, don't worry. Thanks for your time!
Still looking through some comments on that page.
It may take quite a few moments. :o
(Working on stuff, and tons of comments)
In the mean time, if anyone has any ideas, please post.
Thanks for your patience with this, ptifred.
Ok, I just sent you the address. I have a few last questions:
When should I expect the package to arrive?
How will I be contacted when the package arrive?
Thank you again.
Xfce is a good choice if one is looking for a stable and basic desktop
environment which can also provide eye candy via compiz (but it isn't
integrated with Xfce's settings). If one also wants optional eye candy and a
lightweight desktop environment, perhaps enlightenment/e17 would fit

One more thing, now it's completely frozen, even the mouse. I could move the
mouse the first time only. And nothing works, I have to do a hard reboot
No, that doesn't work... It froze after a few minutes.
Can you get into a tty? (CTRL+ALT+F1-6, I think 6 works too..)
This post seems to have a possible work around.[1]
Could you try the steps listed, then attempt to run Celestia again?

I did a search on different Linux and Ubuntu forums, and I'm not the only one
in that case, and no solution.

Thank you for pointing that out.
Hmm..
Could you run the command below in the terminal and post the output?
uname -a
Well, the issue is still there...
I ran Celestai for just a few minutes and the computer froze again.

Ok, I'm back with a "normal" resolution, I'll let you know if the frozen
screen happens again in the following days.
Thanks.
Yah, that will work, and is easier; should have read down before hitting
that 'reply' key. LOL
I'd suggest going to exaile.org, and getting the sources tarball. There
should be a text file, with dependences and such. Before building with
the included 'Makefile', make sure you have the build dependencies, with
sudo build-dep exaile
Go back to the directory where you extracted the exaile
Hello,
I'm using "http://archive.trisquel.info brigantia" as my repositories and I'm
not getting the offer to upgrade to 6.0 from the GUI or the command line. Any
help would be appreciated.

I've install the new kernel, but now my screen is stuck on a 800x600
resolution.
I'm working on it...
Is the 3.5 kernel not sufficient for the hardware you need? There is the

:) Great minds think alike!
According to this post[1], the Nouveau driver should work for that card.
But on the 3.8 kernel, it seems that Trisquel 6.0 includes the 3.2 kernel[2].
Thanks for the links, lembas. I was about to ask someone to help with that.
:p

That's a fairly new system all right. You might want to try a newer
Linux-libre kernel.
Here's the source if you wish to compile yourself

Welcome to the Trisquel forums! :D
What kind of video card do you have?
Hi everyone,
I've installed Trisquel 6.0 on my desktop computer. Everything worked fine
during the installation and the updates.
But yesterday, on two occasion, the screen was frozen. I could move the
mouse, but couldn't clic anywhere, and there was nothing I could do except

It no longer matters, as I now have an Internet connection. But I really wish
things weren't so error-prone without one.
In 6.0 the fonts settings are a bit different. Now I do:
cd /etc/fonts/conf.d &&
sudo rm --verbose 01-trisquel.conf &&
sudo rm --verbose 59-droid-serif-fonts.conf &&
sudo rm --verbose 60-droid-sans-mono-fonts.conf &&
sudo rm --verbose 10-hinting-slight.conf &&
sudo ln --verbose --symbolic ../co
I used version 6.0 and when running update manager (gnome-session-bin,
gnome-session-fallback, gnome-session-common) the taskbar also broke then
blocked update them in synaptic.
Here is the documentation to update the Linux-libre kernel.
You can also install some themes from the package manager. Just search
"plymouth-theme".
The last3 updates for Trisquel broke my system. I'm not sure how to report
this, but essentially there were no icons available on the bottom bar. I was
able to manuever to the system partially thrrugh some of the file icons on
the desktop, and when I tried to remove those three updates that
