It's not Replicant, or even a smartphone. It's an ancient Nokia phone,
actually.

I have fixed the problem.
What I had to do was add the following to the GRUB_CMDLINE_LINUX_DEFAULT=""

I am not sure which one statement is the one fixing the situation, so I am
leaving both.
then of course I ran sudo update-grub

This shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone for a number of reasons. First
off the encryption used in GSM phones was broken long ago. Now that in and of
itself doesn't mean they have access to the phone itself.
Here is one article from 2009 on it:

Correction: Since this is not about "decryption" capabilities (but tapping
capabilities), I think it deserves a thread of its own. So, I'll just create
one, instead.

Yes, that is unfortunate, especially because both gNewSense and Parabola
support MIPS, a much less popular arch
I guess no free GNU/Linux supports ARM even if their upstreams do.

People are not supposed to know about this kind of symbols - since they are

The thing is, that, this kind of information has been leaked out (and was not
supposed to) by people who (if you read further, in my previous post) have
proven to be credible persons.

Thanks for that (very valuable) piece of information, that definitely adds to
the debate about all the control/spying that Ubuntu is starting to impose on
its users (or trying to "invite" their users to adhere to).
Definitely, another incentive to use Trisquel, instead...

Sorry, not enough information! It's an arm processor, Exynos 5250 Dual Core,
2GB RAM and 16GB flash storage. icarolongo, your're spot on! I know it will

Hello. I have acquired a Samsung Chromebook and was wondering if anyone has
installed Trisquel on such a machine. Is it possible, or are there too many
hurdles? I beleive it's the series 3 version.
Thanks!
