Hey free software users,
I'm proud to announce my first Abrowser/Firefox add-on - Ecphoneme. It
was inspired by DuckDuckGo !bang commands. It allows you to search
websites directly with few extra keywords, but without DuckDuckGo. For
example:
!sp search with startpage
!spi search startpage
Ah so that's why.
You can achieve similar functionality by assigning keywords to search engines
added to Abrowser/Firefox in Manage Search Engines after clicking on the
current search engine icon in the search box.
Thank you for mencioning freeslack, I didn't know about its existence.
In the bottom right corner of the screen on the taskbar there's a network
monitor icon with two small monitor screens as an icon. Left clicking on it
brings up a menu that includes VPN connections. I used the configure VPN
option from it to import the configuration files for the various
I put Trisquel, Boot Repair and Windows with yumi on one usb stick.
I just can't access Trisquel with Windows.
Boot Repair doesn't show any option. It just analyses the system and finishes
without having the possibility to do anything.
The only option i might see is to test Ubuntu and convert
Is there any chance of including Icedove in 6?
Trisquel 6.01 is supported until 2017 with no Thunderbird/Icedove? How would
I install either of these programs?
sudo apt-get install gtk2.0-dev
Reading package lists... Done
Building dependency tree
Reading state information... Done
Note, selecting 'libgtk2.0-dev' for regex 'gtk2.0-dev'
Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using
Abrowser 32.0.3.
How could you add or use other add-on or extension to abrowser, besides the
already listed.
Oh, now I see that Thunderbird has indeed been removed from Trisquel 6 :(. I
do understand the rationale behind that decision, but am disappointed that
there is no way to install Icedove on the only supported release of Trisquel
as of today. Is there somehope of having Icedove on 6?
Hi,
For security I'd like to sync my data using owncloud but without adding
external repositories. Why owncloud-client (or owncloud command line tool) is
not in the repositories?
It should be free in the upstream right?
Thanks you :)
I will try it!
Thanks you :)
Sometimes I have the same problem.
I solved by changing connection or rebooting.
Hi,
As virtualbox use a non free compiler,
I'm using libvirt (quemu/kvm).
My problems are
1) Video Quality is not so good as in virtualbox (yes I have changed xorg
file to 16bit)
2) It don't have 16:9 resolution (I have a fullHD monitor)
3) I would to share clipboard
4) I would to have
The proper way to transition is replacing with transitional packages, not by
removing the package. Trisquel has too many of these annoying issues with
packages.
Hi lembas :)
You right
I have searched and it seem like owncloud.client is in Trisquel 7
http://packages.trisquel.info/belenos/owncloud-client
So,
I just have to go on software center and set the option find upgrades for
every new releases and do an upgrades, right?
thanks you.
A couple of us are encountering this problem. It's bad because you need gtk
dev to compile lots of code. I managed to fiddle with Synaptic to quickfix
it. I hope it can be fixed once and for all 6.0.1 users in the future, but
until then, please try my solution here:
Well, if you want to install Icedove I'd suggest you install gdebi first:
$ sudo apt-get install gdebi
Then, try to download Icedove from debian's repos, try Jessie or Wheezy:
https://packages.debian.org/jessie/icedove
Afterwards, cd to the Download directory and use Gedbi to install:
$
Hi,
I'm trying to run an OpenGL program from a tutorial and I get the following

This is unsafe.
Please don't follow this istruction.
Install software only via apt-get that download package from the
repositoires.

Why systemd should not be in any distro?
My first gripe is that logging is less able than current preferred unix

When Trisquel is in power saving mode my touchpad stops working. How can I
configure settings to have touchpad always enabled?
I've managed to fix similar issue with mouse editing
/etc/laptop-mode/conf.d/usb-autosuspend.conf, but I've no idea how to do that
with touchpad.

How is this unsafe? These aren't just some random binaries, they're
packages maintained by the Debian and Ubuntu projects. Also, this doesn't
enable updates, so it's not as if you have to worry about something no good
being recommended as an upgrade later.
Please, expose why, I want to know.
This is not a pasive-agressive comment, I really want to know why it is so.
Thank you
Thanks. That means if you want to know if your printer is free hardware, then
connect it to a trisquel computer? About the software, if the printer works
on trisquel, then where does it come from? Trisquel will only use free
software but hplip is not? Another thing is, if free software is
trisquel 6 guest virtualbox 4.3.18 There is no full screen option?
@MagicBanana
I didn't see anything that said text in /etc/default/grub. This is what it
looks like:
# If you change this file, run 'update-grub' afterwards to update
# /boot/grub/grub.cfg.
# For full documentation of the options in this file, see:
# info -f grub -n 'Simple configuration'
Part of the suggestion was going to Ubuntu and installing Thunderbird.
Thunderbird is not free software. Please don't suggest installing non-free
software on these forums or the mailing list.
Any .xpi file that you open in Abrowser will result in the browser
proposing you to install it.
That configuration file looks OK for a graphical system. Let us take a look
at your /var/log/Xorg.0.log

Looks like /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/dri/swrast_dri.so is missing. Install
libgl1-mesa-dri. (or the matching lts version of it if you have a newer x.)
I'm afraid it's not that simple. Your options include
*building the client yourself
*trying to install that package for 7 into 6
*finding a backport (e.g. a PPA)
*upgrading to the beta version of 7
I suggest you try building it yourself. I suppose somewhere on the owncloud
webpage there are
Nice find lembas!
Those cameras look awesome. It's nice to know that these exist, even if
they're priced out of most peoples' reach. I see that Ephel's market is
probably businesses.
I wonder what it would take to get one of those cameras in working order for
regular people.
