For anyone interested in wireless devices that work with Trisquel...
I just got my hands on a Sony Vaio p-series laptop. The model is vgn p-50 and
it is literally just a tiny, tiny laptop build circa 2009. The screen is like
7 inches wide. The versions sold in the US apparently do not have

Cool, I'm glad you have it
Nevermind! I was able to reinstall the Trisquel 9 netinstall and did not use
LVM this time. I am able to see my computer name on tty1. This means I am
able to execute commands and install a DE. Thank you so much for helping but
it seems LVM was the perpetrator.

I don’t think that I can enter a live cd environment with the netinstall,
should I download the graphical iso for this? Or should I be booting into
live usb tails and then inserting the Trisquel usb and managing it through a
terminal in tails?
Besides Trisquel Mini, I have now installed Trisquel Full and it
automatically mounted VBoxGuestAdditions.iso as expected.
Presume no copyright issues are involved.
The problem resides with Trisquel Mini, which does not mount that package for
some reason I don't realize.
That's why I'm

Something important is likely missing. I

I spent several weeks migrating gnome-app-install from python2->python2,
gtk2->gtk3, and gksu->pkexec, and fixing a bunch of long-standing bugs,
so we're using it. :)
Since it's no longer maintained
No other errors appear, after pressing the power button. The Libreboot screen
is seen for a lil bit then it automatically chooses ‘Load Operating
System’ and then says ‘’Failed to boot both default and fallback
entries.’
Then it says press any key to continue to take me back to the libreboot
I know of this but apparently the clearnet browser is like firejailed so
anything that you download is inaccessible from the main file browser.
What about having a web-based app store, like Mint does, or the Firefox
addons site? Could you set up app info pages so that clicking "install"
starts the default package manager and asks it to install the package(s) for
that app (subject to user entering the correct admin password of

It's ok, I appreciate you wanting to help. I wanted or liked Trisquel bc it
seemed beginner friendly but I'll roll the dice and try Parabola and IF I
don't have any VPN issues on the install I'll just go that route as advanced
as it might be. I simply won't use a system without a VPN among
Right. These forums and the IRC channels are really helpful. You can do
everything on Parabola that you can do on Trisquel. The main difference is
after you install it, you literally just have a terminal. So you have to do
everything "by hand" like creating user, installing your DE if you

sorry i didn't have time to ask the jami team about wich port it uses but
jami works fine for me wen i dont use my firewall

The fact that you can log into a graphical session as another user means
that the problem is not system-wide, but specific to your user's
configuration. It is likely that the culprit is in your .config
directory.
I was doing a bunch of things, and tracking down the cause seems to be a lost
cause. I was using the virtual terminals tyy1, 2, etc... I will do better
documentation from here on out certainly!
Before I try putting the files onto an external drive, I would like to at
least attempt to move
Great sources. Here's a thought. I have encountered RSS as a way to take in
information, a lot at a time and in a focused way, but I don't have the skill
set to begin implementing this as a practice. For instance, I learn the most
from these forums, and everything else on the internet

If you don't require anonymity and are only using Tails because it's
what you have that's bootable, I think Tails has an "Unsafe Browser"
which connects to the clearnet. When using Tails

Does another error appear immediately before?

I currently do not have a working OS on the computer. When trying to boot
into the hard drive I got an error message “failed to boot both default and

After that I’m stuck in the libreboot menu. The netinstall can’t be
There have been some weird messages in Trisquel-announce Digest, Vol 16,

Does someone know if Rubén is OK?

And you can't boot into the netinstall? Do you have a working Trisquel
8 system? If so, you can try upgrading to Trisquel 9. In
/etc/apt/sources.list, replace every instance of

Hi everyone, I've tried installing both the GUI and Netinstall versions of
Trisquel 9.0 however I am unable to boot into either. I'm currently typing
this post on a Tails Live USB that I have for situations just like this. Can
anyone help me install Trisquel 9.0 netinstall or GUI? I need

I have just remembered and searched for the word "art in the age of mass

parasitic dependence on rituals." Computers were already playing a
However, as I thought, one of the most fun elements of painting is competing

that anything between 0 and 1 is always (literally perfectly) lost in
computer graphics. Random numbers are not something between 0 and 1.
Ok, thanks for the clarification.
So, in my case I also lost all internet connectivity once I have connected to
my VPN via the network manager GUI.
The same VPN however did work (i.e. I had internet connectivity) when I used
the command line to connect to the VPN like so
$ sudo openvpn
Yeah it would be easier to help if we knew what you're trying to learn in the
first place.
My experience with Linux has mainly revolved around just kind of configuring
my system. For example, I set up i3wm to be totally usable with just a
touchscreen tablet or something like that. There
