Will do. Thanks!
That's all very helpful. Thanks!
Didn't find anything there. I may end up buying one from a store with an easy
return policy.
Bump... still look for suggestions. Looking to move away from the cost and
waste of inkjet printing.
To follow-up, I'm interested in the Epson LQ590 and Okidata Microline 320,
but would consider others that might work. Looking for reliability, long
print head and ribbon life. I didn't find much on H-node.
Can anyone recommend a current model dot matrix printer that works well with
Trisquel 7?
Just in case this didn't cross your path:

It includes our favorite GNU/Linux operating system and features four
FSF-approved products from vendors whose representatives frequent this site.

Just deleted mine. Thanks!
Upgrading from 6.01 to 7.0 resulted in having the folder: fontconfig within
my home folder on two different machines. The contents (***.cache-3 files)
haven't changed since the day of installation. What is the purpose of the
folder? Is it safe to delete?
Thanks!
I use Tor browser bundle (currently version 4.01) for all browsing.
Starting it by double-clicking on the start script works fine in Trisquel
6.01 (using it as I type this) and Trisquel 7.0 mini (on a netbook), but not
Trisquel 7.0 (on a third computer for testing). With 7.0, the script
Works now. Thanks for the tip!!!
That was giving me an error. Got it working now. Thanks.
I updated the last machine to 7.0 with no issues. Everything works. 3 for 3!
Whoo hoo!
Sorry, but if ...FSF does not include Debian on this list because the Debian
project provides a repository of nonfree software... FSF shouldn't be
collaborating with an organization when it cannot (for very good reason)
endorse the distribution.
If a distribution (including it's organizing philosophy, access to
proprietary resources etc.) isn't absolutely 100% free, it is entirely
inconsistent with the guiding principles of free software and we shouldn't be
using it or engage in any collaboration with it developers. Period.

In my opinion, completely free distribution is always the best option, but I
would still pick a partially free distribution over, say, Windows. It's not

At the last school where I worked, I was permitted to use my own Trisquel
computer in my classroom as long as I could show that it had anti-virus
software. Clam TK came in very handy for that (for demonstration purposes
only) and I didn't need to bother with the 'we really don't worry about

Download the latest Tor browser:
https://www.torproject.org/download/download-easy.html.en
Right click on the archive and 'extract here'
Right click on the Tor browser folder and 'open in terminal'
Type sh start-tor-browser on the command line
and you are good to go!
Caveat: I've encountered
That works too. Funny thing is that never occurred to me. Not sure if that's
a good or bad thing. :)

My mistake (did not read it carefully). You are correct.

Interesting that TAILS won an FSF award despite the fact that it includes
proprietary firmware - i.e., it's not free.
