I wasn't giving her interview on TDS my undivided attention, but I did
notice what seemed like an obvious applause line go unapplauded, and I
wondered if it was her poor delivery, or the audience's reluctance to cut
her any slack.

It was not a good interview (maybe the full-length is better). I thought
she was trying to do two things: show solidarity with a liberal-leaning
audience that is disinclined to like anyone who is Fox-adjacent and stick
to her talking points. The former flopped badly (there were at least two
I have seen her do 3 or 4 interviews and TDS was her worst - she was
stilted and uncomfortable. Surprisingly since Trevor went out of his way to
be gracious- though she did agree with him that it was uncomfortable for
her to go to TDS.

Carlson came off better on Larry Wilmore's podcast this week (even if she
doesn't know how to pronounce "ribald").

Did anyone catch Gretchen Carlson on The Daily Show? What do you make of her
comment about her 25 year career coming to and end. It seems like she's saying
she made the allegations because FOX News was not going to resign her.

I've heard her a couple of times now plugging the book, and it's both
surprising and gratifying to me that -- when she doesn't have to play the

I have no doubt I share few political viewpoints with her, but she comes
Megyn Kelly's book details Roger Ailes' sexual harassment of her. I saw her
talk about it today on Dr. Phil. I think she probably has some sexy bras I
would like to see her in, but I am not her boss.
Ailes denies the allegations.

If they are going to settle for $20M the sooner they do it the better. And
it does seem like she has them dead to rights with those recordings. Almost
all I knew about Carlson before this came from Jon Stewart and SNL, where
she was portrayed as mostly dumb. She may not be the brightest

The Ailes saga is threatening to blow up.
"In the past few days alone, there have been reports of surveillance
campaigns against journalists covering Ailes (http://nym.ag/2aDOHsD);
Fox News employees who “believe our phones are tapped and that we are
monitored” (http://cnnmon.ie/2aXbX4b); and
Laurie Dhue, whom no one has heard from recently, made a statement that she
is writing a book and invited the Fox attorneys to talk to her.

This report suggests that more people are getting in touch with Carlson's
lawyers with similar complaints:

As for the seriousness of the internal inquiry, based on what the Murdochs
have done
This was a good story. I didn't watch the show so I didn't realize
they had significant on-air tension.

Meanwhile, Fox says there will be an internal investigation (and don't be
sure that it will be perfunctory, since it's no secret that James and
Lachlan Murdoch, who are running 21st Century Fox, are not as enamored of
Ailes as their father), while Ailes has predictably fiercely defended

Everyone has their type. And maybe Gretchen Carlson was Roger Ailes'
type. The thing is, if you look at the den of FOX blondes, Gretchen
Carlson wouldn't rate in the top 10. I dunno. Maybe all the others are
sleeping with Ailes. This seems to me like someone grabbing for some
cash in the twilight
