The main reason KFRC never used Boss Radio (they were always The Big 610) was that Drake had used the boss handle pre-RKO when he programmed crosstown KYA. My recollection is that, among the RKO properties, only KHJ used boss under Drake, although countless imitators appropriated the word. On

There's a TM package for KFRC in San Francisco in its oldies days where the news sounder was a synthesized version of the classic Drake sounder (KFRC was owned by RKO and thus was a Drake station, although I don't think they used Boss Radio). However, the Drake jingles were never heard in Chicago
