4Gb is a magic number for some O.S and filesystem configurations - check the operating system configuration. 2Gb is the address limit for 32 bit files - yes - and doubling the address space increases the limit, but if the infrastructure underneath limit spave then you are on a hiding to nothing. [

Being a PROCologist, this problem was very popular in the Jurrasic Pick era. When these processes were handled in proc and the results sent to a databasic program, we could interrogate the errmsg variable E. Thus if you were trying to QSELECT something from a 'No Items Present' QUERY, you would ac

Hi all. I have a question and hopefully I'll give you all the info you need to answer. Universe 9.4 SB+ 3.4.0 I don't know if SB+ comes into play on this. NT We make a copy of our live account every so often. When doing this we use NT to make the copy and then run it through a universe process

Mark, I've used CURR (current) in the same way in many programs. I'm a 1983 vintage programmer who learned mostly from guys who had five years seniority over me. I've never done the untrusted READ thing, though. - Chuck "Older Than I Look, But Starting to Look My Age" Barouch Mark

Well, if you remember that pick includes "throwaway" connectives to allow users to make their LIST and SORTs as verbose as desirable, having a variable like THE.SALESMAN doesn't seem so strange. I don't know about that paranoid read. My guess is that someone had a variable not assigned error, and j

I guess it's a preference. I often load in the MVable fields into plural variables and use their single form. PRODS=ORD<15> C.PRODS=DCOUNT(PRODS,CHAR(253)) FOR I=1 TO C.PRODS PROD=PRODS<1,I> NEXT I I had just noticed the THE for around the 4th time. Another use was the labeling of a REPEAT p

REMOVE is not universally available on all MV platforms. DCOUNT is. Read my earlier post. I'll yield to the REMOVE for this U2 forum. But I will provide a reason for using DCOUNT for another purpose. I don't trust the X<5,-1>=VAL when applied to an associated set of fields. Somehow, somewhere one
