I think this is too early in my process, since we have exec'ed the uv
shell, and started the application. They have passed the unix login
check, but they fail the application's password checks.

Hi, Laure.
I've got a sollution.
Provided that I got no more answer than yours, I had to investigate a
little.
So I've found a pretty utility unix-like called ps.exe that gives me the
parent-pid.
With this and a little BP, voila!
I've put it in production and it seems to work fine.

What version of unix? We use Solaris, and handle all of this at the OS level
in /etc/profile prior to prior to exec'ing uv in the user's /.profile. If the
user's ip address or host name had been recorded in a file. If the ip/host is
in the file we display a message containing a phone number fo
Did you try to edit in "up arrow" mode to see if there are some control
characters? I assume UV prints to a 'driver'. Is the unix script the same? Is
anything missing in it (path statement, etc...).. Perhaps change line one of
the script to force it to use bash?

HI All,
We want to lock out a user's UNIX login id, after three failed attempts
into our application. We are using the following command from the
application that monitors the fail/success of the login attempt at the
application level.
EXECUTE 'SH -c "chuser account_locked=true ':@logname:'"'

Has anyone encountered a problem running Universe 10.1 on Windows 2003
server, besides that identified previously in this group by Mr. Alonso
of Quiter Servicios Informaticos (no release of UV user licenses on
dropped connections)?
There are several scary-sounding documents in the tech notes about
Thanks to all of you who responded on this. Great to have so many
responses with no conflicting answers!!

We had an issue with this on UV 8 on HP UX 9 a couple of years back...
Then, after an upgrade to UV 9 on the HP UX box, we didn't have the
problem, and after that we have successfully done a migration from the UV
9/HP UX to UV10 on Win2k using exactly this method - took me just a weekend

Just make sure you also change the hostnames as well to match the old
server name in the new situation. Some programs use the servername when
connecting.

We have actually done exactly what you have stated. It seemed to work
just fine.

If you have copied universe onto the new server you will have to transfer
the licence. If universe is just staying on the old machine, and it is just
the ip that is changing then you should be fine. (when i last did it anyway

Hi,
We run UV 10.0.2 on RH 7.2. After a controller failure, UV and the OS were
re-installed. Everything seems to be working except for this: On certain
reports, the first few bytes (@ 5 or 6 lines) are 'missing'. When printed
to the screen, however, all the report data is correctly displayed.
