Brilliant video, I have the UK version on VHS somewhere. It was introduced
and narrated by Tony Bastable.

You should be able to find something from the common strands to point to the
user that is causing the problems.

Look at the timestamp on the uvconfig file.

Has a Uv errlog been set up? Is there anything in the errlog to suggest a

We use UniVerse on RedHat and get around the problem of only showing your own
port.status details with the following method:-
Port status
Setting up the port.status is quite easy if you have or can get sudo. If
you have the file /etc/sudoers then sudo is already on your system. Logged
in as root
Hi Marc
The solution is quite simple:-
The following example uses /u1/uv for the UniVerse home directory and
vt100 as the terminal type. Substitute in the correct information for
your system.
cd /u1/uv/sample
/u1/uv/bin/uvtidc vt100 > myvt100
vi myvt100
within vi, search for the string ( /$<5>
Try adding the -H option to the cpio command when extracting the archive. Eg
cpio --extract -vBdum -H odc < /tmp/sb523_uv_cpio.

Hi Bill
Just to add my twopence worth:-
1 RedHat is excellent but it's best to use the Enterprise version or you may
run into problems (ran out of inodes on the normal version)
2 It's always best to re-compile and re-catalog anyway. Also, you will need
to fnuxi the files beforehand.

Have they upgraded their UniData? This caught me out in the past.

Hi
Your Registry Size Limit needs increasing. After this has been done you
will need to re-boot as the changes are not dynamic. The strange thing is,
this shouldn't happen to Server 2003.

As long as they are still available on U2BC then your VAR should be able to
get them for you.

Hi Susan
In your logto script try adding CLEARCOMMON then LOGIN so that you go in
cleanly. You can add a Logto subroutine in SB+, go to the Admin screen, SB+
Setup, SB+ Control Parameters, F9 Logto Sub. I've experienced this error
when logging between accounts from different versions of SB+ (dif
Hi Susan
This is caused by either a missing or corrupt DMSECURITY item(s). We had a
customer that couldn't add anything to their menus because when they did,
upon saving half the menus would disappear completely. It was all due to
the fact that they had removed an account at Unix but everything
You can stop the use of the X button and make sure the session is logged off.
To ensure "log out" tasks are being carried out when users close a session
from the system tray icon or menu you can assign a Logout script to be run
when SBClient is closed.
NOTE: This script will not work if a users g
IBM is very sixties also. Have you ever been to the Apollo space centre?
All the computers were IBM and the IBM logo is splashed all around the
control room. So I think if you're thinking retro then IBM sits there right
along side Sputnik et al.

Thanks

Have you tried setting the SQLNULL value in the uvconfig? The Euro character
can have werd results if this is left at 128.
